Abbvie has an opening for an Associate Scientist, Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Group at our Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA. The ADC group collaborates with drug discovery project teams across all Abbvie therapeutic areas including Oncology and Immunology. The ideal candidate will effectively collaborate with chemists, biologists and immunologists to characterize large and small molecules for ADC development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute in vitro cell-based assays for screening of biologics, small molecules and antibody drug conjugates (reporter cell lines, cytokine release, flow-based cell phenotyping, and antibody internalization assays)
  • Characterize lead molecules and confirm mechanism of action
  • Perform ex vivo functional and phenotypic characterization of primary human/rodent cells
  • Routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments
  • Demonstrate scientific excellence, work ethic, and dedication to team and project goals
  • Work collaboratively in a matrix with project teams and members of the Global Biologics Group to drive innovation and deliver novel therapies to our patients
  • Develop productive collaborations and communication with other groups across therapeutic areas


Position will be hired based on level of experience.
  • BS or MS in related discipline with typically 1-3+ (BS) or 0+ (MS) years of experience
  • Experience with screening large and small molecules in cell assays (eg luminescent reporter, proliferation and cytokine release assays)
  • Experience culturing adherent, suspension and primary cell lines
  • Proficiency with performing flow cytometry experiments is desired
  • Experience working with high throughput laboratory workflows and instruments such MACsQuant, Canto, HTS Fortessa, microbeta, Wes, Amnis Imagestream, and spectramax plate readers.
  • Experience documenting experimental methods and results into an electronic notebook
  • Summarize and articulate results to project teams.
