The Associate Director, Account Management is responsible for providing strategic guidance and execution for the Account team within BSG. The department has responsibility for developing business solutions in the areas of creative, communication, meetings and meeting production utilizing a mix of internal BSG resources and external partners that totals in the range of $12MM annually. This position will oversee a team that directly manages all client relationships and projects that include: Executive Suite, Corporate, Commercial, Operations and Research & Development. The Account team works closely with other functions within BSG such as Creative Services, Congress Marketing, Meetings and Meeting Production to deliver solutions for the different client groups.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for coaching, developing, guiding and holding accountable, the BSG Account team and assists them in strategic planning, managing personal issues and building the team, encouraging growth and development within the department.
  • Manage and develop long-range business plan for BSG. This includes setting the strategy, reviewing current and future sales trends to identify new capabilities or gaps in current capabilities required to support.
  • Stay current on industry developments assessing opportunities for AbbVie in how the group operates or new capabilities.
  • To direct staff in generating and developing new business opportunities that align with BSG's core capabilities and the business needs. Create a marketing strategy to support AbbVie's overall performance and how BSGs can support.
  • Oversee project management including: tracking of project status, deliverables and issues; develop and track relevant metrics; ensure resources are properly allocated; tasks and projects are prioritized to support client's strategies and objectives.
  • Effectively manage the department operating budget and charge outs.
  • Ensure team compliance with corporate and divisional procedures and policies such as: Compliance Training, Corporate branding, 21CFR 11, Corporate Records, Corporate purchasing, etc.
  • Solicit key business drivers and communication needs from AbbVie departments.
  • Provide leadership to BSG by focusing on clients' business objectives and strategies and making recommendations for product offerings and service level requirements.
  • Hire, train, and motivate individuals who possess a high level of creativity.


  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of Advertising agency or related experience
  • 5+ years in a people management role
  • Ability to clearly define goals and objectives for the department and determine a strategy to achieve them.
  • Must be able to handle a wide variety of problems that may arise while working the suite and senior level management, clients and vendors.
  • Ability to deal with conflict and construct win/win solutions.
