This position is in Purification Development Lab Automation within Preclinical Manufacturing & Process Development in Tarrytown, NY. This position is for Summer AND Fall full time, about 7 months from May/June to December 2019 . The student will support daily activities of designing clinical and commercial purification processes for promising antibody treatments in addition to supporting technology development through automating and streamlining existing and new workflows. Responsibilities . Gain experience in operation Hamilton and Tecan robotic liquid handling systems, and possibly AKTA liquid chromatography systems . Assist with clinical and commercial purification process development and gain experience in polishing chromatography, laboratory workflow automation, antibody fundamentals, quality by design, among others . Independent research project to automate and streamline existing and new workflows . Assist in daily lab operation to ensure proper maintenance of equipment and availability of buffers . Must be pursuing a degree in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, data science, or related fields with an interest in the biopharmaceutical industry and laboratory automation . Must have academic research or industry experience in a laboratory setting for 0. 5yrs, pipetting, buffer preparation, good attention to detail, the ability to balance multiple concurrent projects, and the drive to scrutinize and improve existing workflows . Experience with functional or object oriented programming i.e. Python, R, Java, Scala desired . Experience with automated liquid handling is a plus. General Co-op Program Information . Must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, PhD or PharmD . Program is full-time 40 hrs/wk and is paid .
