Senior Scientist, Protein Engineering and Protein Chemistry

Job Description

Amunix Operating Inc. is seeking a highly-driven and innovative individual to join our Research and Discovery group. The candidate will be responsible for the design,  optimization, and characterization of multi-specific protein therapeutics with use in oncology. He/She must be highly motivated and collaborative to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Positions Duties and Responsibilities

• Engineer proteins (with a focus on antibody fragments) to improve folding, stability, optimize binding, and/or increase production yield
• Perform small to medium throughput purification and characterization
• Work closely with other team members to evaluate and characterize these proteins in a variety of in vitro and in vivo models
• Function as a project leader to coordinate efforts, define timelines and deliverables

Requirements/Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biological Science (Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, Enzymology) or a related field with at least 4 years of post-graduate experience in either an academic or industrial setting
• Strong scientific background in protein engineering and protein chemistry
• Hands-on experience with medium throughput protein expression and characterization (Octet or similar)
• Experience with multiplex assays (binding and/or kinetics) is preferred
• Ability to think creatively to identify and solve scientific problems
• Extensive knowledge of the scientific literature
• The ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, to communicate clearly and effectively and build open and collaborative relationships is essential
• Ability to effectively work independently and effectively participate in multi-disciplinary teams
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work at the lab bench for extended periods of time
