Job Details

The Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics Department at AbbVie has an opening for a Scientist II position in North Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for method development and quantitation of small molecules from in vitro and in vivo samples.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LCMS systems
  • Develop analytical methods for the quantitation of small molecules
  • Serve as a resource for challenging method development projects
  • Fully document experimental methods and results

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education in Analytical Chemistry and 7+ years of experience required (OR)
  • Masters Degree or equivalent education in Analytical Chemistry and 5+ years of experience required
  • Proven method development experience using various extraction, chromatographic and analytical methodologies
  • Proven experience operating and troubleshooting Agilent HPLCs, Leap/CTC PAL autosamplers and AB Sciex Mass Spectrometers
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and an ability to collaborate successfully across other groups within R&D
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Highly motivated and self-driven with the flexibility to quickly adapt to different projects
  • Embraces the ideas of others, nurtures innovation and manages innovation to reality
  • Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement
