Associate Scientist, mRNA Analytical Development

Contract

Join bluebird bio's enthusiastic and collaborative team by contributing to the overall success of our novel gene therapy approaches. The focus of this position is to provide support for the development of a next-generation gene editing platform at bluebird bio. We are looking for a motivated associate scientist with a background in biology and the drive to take ownership of important development and characterization projects that will greatly impact the mRNA platform for gene editing at bluebird.

Activities Include:
  • Support the development of analytical assays for mRNA
  • Execute mRNA productions and testing in support of Process Development and Research
  • Assist in technical review of analytical development supporting documents including protocols, reports, and CMC sections for regulatory filings
  • Analyze, compile, and present research data to functional teams

About you:
  • BS with 0-2 years of directly related experience. Degree emphasis in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or related field preferred.
  • This position requires conducting laboratory experiments, excellent documentation review and writing skills, and the flexibility to work on multiple projects as needed.
  • Superb organization and communication - both written and oral skills - and a "do-what-it-takes" attitude.
  • Experience with a variety of cell-based methods with an understanding of tissue culture, cell biology, immunoassays, and general laboratory techniques.
  • Understanding of nucleic acid chemistry, enzymatic and chemical reactions, PCR, plasmid processing, and standard molecular biology techniques, such as bacterial cloning, transformation, and DNA preparation.
