The R&D Discovery Finance team supports the Discovery business, an organization with an annual budget of ~$500MM and over 1,400 people across multiple sites.

The Finance Lead will provide financial support, guidance and execution of consolidated financial Plans/Updates/Latest Best Estimates (LBE). A demonstrated strength in leadership competencies, with emphasis in initiative, problem solving, and agility is needed in this role. This individual will be an integral member of the functional team, working closely with both finance and business partners. Therefore, strong analytical, communication, leadership skills and solid business judgment are essential.

Key Major Responsibilities:

  • Execute monthly financial close (including journal entries, account reconciliations) and prepare monthly financial reporting packages with variance analysis for senior leaders' review and decision-making.
  • Assist with Plan/Update/LBE/LRP budget planning process with a focus on Oncology.
  • Perform monthly analysis and quarterly preparation of billings related to external collaborations.
  • Assist with Requests for Capital Expenditure (RCE) preparation and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Review and approve expenditures (primarily POs).
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from management & business partners with timely and meaningful analysis.
  • Work well independently as well as with cross-functional teams to provide and explain financial information and assist with decision-making.
  • Pressure test financial forecasts and work constructively with business partners to assess operational risk. Provide financial guidance that is in compliance with all corporate policies.
  • Drive continuous process improvement of financial processes. Review current processes to identify areas of improvement and work cross-functionally to implement solutions.

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance required, CPA a plus
  • 6+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience
  • Experience with SAP/TM1 preferred
  • Proficient in Excel
