Job Details

The Senior Director Strategic Resource Management is responsible for developing, executing and overseeing global resource strategies for Pharmacovigilance & Patient Safety (PPS), including strategic outsourcing, resource management objectives, road-map and key performance indicators. The role is responsible for the consolidated strategy needed to ensure PPS resourcing engagements are aligned to overall business objectives driving business deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, execute and oversee global resource strategies for PPS, including strategic outsourcing, resource management objectives, road map and KPI's
  • Objectives: cost efficiencies, flexible capacity, and new business capability development
  • Identify sourcing needs and proposals across PPS in supporting the achievement of corporate goals
  • Continuous maintenance and stewardship, keeping pace with evolving business priorities, by deep understanding of PV business and outsourcing industry
  • Create, implement, and evolve consolidated and function-specific outsourcing plans across PPS (in conjunction with PPS functional management)
  • Partner with PPS functions, PSM, and AbbVie Outsourcing COE to implement new outsourcing engagements and extensions
  • Develop objective approach aligned with PPS sourcing strategy to evaluate PPS activities for potential outsourcing
  • Support engagement RFIs/RFPs, negotiation, contracting, and initiation
  • Liaise with other AbbVie business stakeholders for outsourced work cross-functionally (e.g. Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development)
  • Continuous involvement and collaborative leadership for all PPS outsourcing engagements, ensuring expert oversight, issue management, and progressive evolution
  • Establish and manage PPS central vendor management capability
  • Key member of PPS vendor governance (engagement- and department-level) and liaison with AbbVie vendor governance (enterprise-level)
  • Provide expert guidance to PPS function-specific supplier management teams
  • Support vendor issue resolution
  • Drive influential and effective relationships with vendors to ensure responsiveness, investment, and support of PPS business strategies
  • Collaborates with PPS SMO, STS, and other functions to lead and participate in initiatives to improve operational performance, enhance culture or improve decision-making
  • Develops and maintains business relationships across functional areas across AbbVie to further PPS objectives in support of the strategic imperatives
  • Partners across PPS leaders to enhance teamwork and department culture, identify issues and workable solutions


Basic:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in vendor management and outsourcing
  • 7+ years of experience in pharmacovigilance
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate others in a complex, multi-functional matrix environment
  • Executive level collaboration and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • History of anticipating and resolving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), FDA regulations and guidelines, and international regulatory requirements/ guidelines
