Job Description:

Position Summary

Works in close collaboration with the Senior Director, NA Purchasing to provide purchasing support to North American teams for Research & Development and Medical Affairs, in North America.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Implements the procurement process according to the global purchasing policy and purchasing best practice
  • Analyzes spend and budget to identify Procurement opportunities with Business Partners
  • Works in close collaboration with Business Partners to get a clear understanding of business needs, to determine the appropriate Purchasing strategy, to source vendors, and to ensure the consistency between the technical specifications, vendor proposals, and contractual documents.
  • Provides leadership and methodology to integrate IPSEN requirements (technical, legal, financial, Compliance, ...) throughout the relationship with vendors from Sourcing to Exit.
  • Negotiates best value prices, terms, and lead-times for services and goods
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors project documentation from Sourcing to Exit
  • Formally reports the activity progress to the Senior Director, North America Purchasing via regular formal meetings, informal communications, and Purchasing reporting systems as required
  • Escalates issues to the Senior Director, North America Purchasing in a timely manner
  • Coordinates providers' performance assessment and provides support to Supplier Relationship Management
  • Provides support to the purchase-to-pay process supported by K2 as needed
  • Shares best practices and contributes to driving a culture of teamwork and project management good practices.
  • 50-80 projects a year are expected to be managed by this position in North America
  • More than $15 million expected to be addressed by this position per year
  • The performance of 5 suppliers is expected to be formally assessed every year

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required

Experience
  • At least 10 years purchasing/procurement experience within a biotech/pharma/CRO
  • Good planning, interpersonal, and organizational skills to consistently meet purchasing deadlines
  • Knowledge of Clinical/medical services and studies; familiar with interactions/negotiations with CROs
  • Project management skills
  • Fully skilled in purchasing processes, systems & tools
  • Ability to develop accurate and timely reports, presentations, and metrics
  • Effective and proven negotiating skills
  • Effective and proven operational purchasing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
