Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and energetic research associate to join the Transgenic group. The candidate will be responsible for oversight of internal Genetically Modified Animal (GMA) projects.

Specific responsibilities
  • Responsible for testing and applying the latest technical approaches for gene editing and the creation of animal models in collaboration with other members of the Transgenic Modeling Group
  • Proficient in all transgenic model creation methods including embryonic stem cells, pronuclear injection, and current gene editing approaches. Independently lead the creation of GMAs using gene transfer and gene-editing strategies to create a range of GMA models to support biologics discovery and program validation.
  • Breeding management, mouse genetics, and genotyping.
  • Participate in IACUC activities on-site.
  • Manage projects independently and present results regularly to senior management.
  • Excellent written and oral skills are necessary
  • Accomplish goals under project team time lines


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in biology or a related field and 5+ years of relevant technical experience required.
  • Skilled in technical aspects of cell culture, microinjection, implantation, working with CRISPR constructs, breeding of animals, and other aspects of generation of genetically engineered model mice.
  • Experience modifying embryonic cell lines preferred.
  • Strong molecular biology skills required.
  • Experience genotyping and designing genotyping strategies required.
  • Experience performing gene editing via electroporation of embryos is also preferred. Experience performing HDR experiments is also preferred.
  • Familiar and experienced in the full range of transgenic models, both traditional and modern gene editing approaches.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary biologics discovery team.
