Responsibilities
Scientific data and information are the core assets of Lilly. Providing balanced, objective, and accurate information to regulators, the scientific community, health care professionals, payers, and patients in a consistent and timely fashion across the entire drug development lifecycle is fundamental to Lilly.

As Global Scientific Communications evolves to an organization that lays the foundation of Lilly's content strategy, scientific communications will evolve from single-use assets/deliverables to high-value, multiple-use business assets. GSC will design and manage these assets so that the information they contain is easy to find, understand, use, re-use, and retain. To enable this evolution, You will own the development and drive the implementation of a comprehensive content strategy for GSC and other functions in Research and Development.

Define/establish a content and knowledge management strategy
  • Identify, monitor KM concepts and current trends
  • Influence, implement, and monitor best practices for generating and managing content and information
  • Develop vision and roadmap in alignment with the GSC strategy for implementing a strategy within MDU that seamlessly integrates with internal and external consumers
  • Develop, define, analyze, and act on key measures of content and knowledge management resulting in a positive customer experience, reduced manual effort, and increased operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with asset teams to ensure effective execution of the strategy
Influence enterprise content and knowledge management strategy
  • Establish a network of internal peers and organizations with a vested interest in content and knowledge management strategy to align strategies and share best practices
  • Gain recognition as internal authority and thought leader for content and KM principles
  • Find opportunities across relevant functions and businesses to improve customer experience and content management efficiencies and use these to inform/adapt strategy
Merge knowledge management concepts with technology
  • Investigate applications that will best facilitate knowledge management and content reuse principles, including intelligent automation
  • Enable delivery of content today while at the same time planning for new fulfillment opportunities of the future
  • Influence system design to enable adaptive content authoring and reuse, enabling the enterprise to pull through information from protocol development through submission and launch activities
External industry engagement/influence
  • Influences the development of industry standards through collaborations with external organizations, professional societies, vendors, and other relevant partner groups
  • Participate in external initiatives to foster trust and respect among external groups and professional societies

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in scientific, health, communications, or technology related field
  • 5 years pharmaceutical medical writing experience
  • 2 years experience with document management systems/medical writing tools
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position


Additional Skills/Preferences
  • General medical or scientific background with strong communication skills
  • Working understanding of regulatory documents and requirements, commercialization concepts
  • Knowledge of medical writing tools and technologies, current state and evolving technologies
  • Experience writing regulatory/clinical trial documents
  • Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, external environment, global marketplace, and scientific communities
  • Experience with organizational change management; developing/leading large organizational changes
  • Experience with strategy development / execution across people/process/tools
  • Ability to work successfully across global components in a matrix organization, focus externally, and significantly change business models in a highly matrix organization, driving organizational change through influence
