Contracts and Acquisitions (C&A) provides all purchasing, subcontracting, receiving, warehousing, distribution, and transportation services for the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNL).

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Driver Courier-Logistics Support will:
  • Drive automobile, light truck or mid-sized vehicle to pick-up and deliver messages, documents, parcels and mail to various business concerns or governmental agencies, to include local delivery area
  • Deliver time critical packages (correspondence and/or packaged biological materials) to end-user within established time frames
  • Obtain chain of custody signatures
  • Transport office personnel and visitors
  • Perform miscellaneous errands, such as carrying mail to and from post office
  • Sorting/processing or opening incoming/outgoing mail
  • Obtain receipts for articles delivered and keep a log of items received and delivered
  • Deliver items to offices and departments within an establishment
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance inspection of vehicle
  • This position requires driving within the D.C. Metropolitan area

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • In addition to education requirement, one (1) year of related work experience
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes and packages up to 50 lbs.; walk, stair climb, bend and stoop. This position has the potential for exposure to biological, chemical, and other laboratory-related hazards
  • Basic computer skills to access information to distribute mail
  • Familiarity with the DC metropolitan area including Rockville and Frederick and the willingness to travel to and from these areas
  • Must have and maintain a valid State Driver's License issued by the state in which the incumbent/candidate resides for each class of vehicle to be operated on company business
  • Must have no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous twelve (12) months or five (5) demerit points in the preceding thirty-six (36) months as determined by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. Use of Government Owned or Leased Vehicles Policy. The driving record will need to be presented at the time of the interview
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience/knowledge of a mailroom environment and courier services

Expected Competencies:
  • Capable of delivering time critical packages (correspondence and/or packaged biological materials) to end-user within established time frames.
