Job Description:

The Senior Payroll Analyst will report to the Associate Director of Payroll and will work on the

North America Shared Finance Service team to ensure accurate and timely processing of

Payroll for the North America employees. This role will collaborate with benefits and human

resources to ensure accurate setup, taxation and processing of employee life cycle changes

and new compensation or benefit plans. The Sr. Analyst will prepare payroll reconciliations,

payroll journal entries and work closely with accounting as needed. This payroll professional

will partner with internal and external auditors to ensure full audit documentation is supplied

for timely audit completions as related to payroll and 401k.They will understand and support

complex tax laws as they relate to payroll, compensation and benefits to ensure accurate

quarterly and annual tax statement preparations. They will partner with our vendor ADP to

ensure payroll processing success.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Process payroll for an organization with 500+ employees with responsibility for the entire

payroll cycle
  • Reconcile payroll and HR changes to the system
  • Create custom ad hoc reporting using ADP WFN
  • Maintain payroll files and forms to audit standards
  • Participate on payroll, accounting and human resource related projects
  • Prepare journal entries and monthly closing accruals to record payroll in the general ledger
  • Prepare periodic reports for HR and Management related to headcount, 401K, overtime,

payroll reconciliation, etc.
  • Other accounting related tasks as required
  • Handle tax notices, tax changes and tax setup of earnings and deductions to ensure

Timely compliance and resolution
  • Support benefit processing through managing 401k and FSA funding through vendor sites
  • Answer employee or departmental inquiries about payroll and payroll

related matters
  • Support payroll and 401k audits through gathering required documentation to ensure

timely and accurate audit completion
  • Maintain productive working relationship with Human Resources
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred
  • CPP preferred

Experience
  • 5+ years hands on processing payroll with hourly and exempt employees
  • 3+ years working with ADP, preferably Workforce Now
  • 2+ years preparing journal entries and posting in a GL system

Core Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)

  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local payroll laws for vacation, sick pay, terminations, awards, etc.
  • Advanced Excel skills including common formulas (i.e. VLookup, IF statements, Pivot Tables, etc.)
  • Must work well in a team environment and have a willingness to collaborate and share ideas
  • Have a proactive, customer focused approach to timely issue resolution


  • Excellent analytical skills are required, including the ability to effectively communicate

complex technical materials and concepts in a non-technical manner
  • Ability to hold information confidential
