Job Description

Specific job description:

The Senior Research Associate I will assist scientists with investigating new compounds to reduce HBV DNA, RNA and antigens. Specifically, he/she will optimize and develop new HBV cell culture systems and new biomarkers assays for screening, mechanism of action studies, and phenotypic HBV drug resistance testing; perform experiments to characterize the in vitro resistance profile of HBV compounds; assist in mechanism of action studies for HBV compounds; support virology biomarkers testing for woodchuck studies; assist with the summary, QC, interpretation and documentation of data; participate and provide input in internal and cross-functional meetings; and also share lab maintenance responsibilities with other members of the team.

 

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

• Must think critically and creatively and be able to work independently, determine appropriate resources for resolution of problems, interpret data and draw conclusions

• Have strong organizational and planning skills.

• Excellent team-work, flexibility, and ability to work in a matrix environment are required

• Acts as a resource for other employees within the department.

• Maintains familiarity with scientific literature and applies appropriately to research projects.

• Uses strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to communicate objectives and results.

 

Knowledge Experience and Skills:

• BSc or MSc in microbiology or molecular biology.

• 2 years of working experience is required.

• Solid background and understanding of molecular biology and tissue culture technologies.
