Lead, Process Engineering
  • Responsible for managing complex internal and external interfaces on the implementation and execution of processes. Responsible for ensuring the safety and quality portfolio goals are met by providing engineering expertise.
  • Partners with key stakeholders within PD to enable the successful delivery of the portfolio by performing process engineering analysis to determine cycle time, equipment fit, technologies required, and scale-up risk.
  • Manages the operational risk assessments program for the implementation of processes into internal and external scale-up facilities.
  • Responsible for the review of process and batch documentation to meet the quality, safety, and knowledge goals. Partners with key stakeholders on the data collection and analysis within the internal plants and within the global API manufacturing network.
  • Provides process engineering expertise to the Hazard Evaluation Lab and Process Safety teams to identify requirements for non-standard engineering controls within process implementation.
  • Accountable for a high level of team leadership and the development of team members in different geographies.

Specific accountabilities and responsibilities include the following:

Acts as the subject matter expert in the engineering analysis of processes within the global API manufacturing network. Partners with stakeholders in Product Development and GPS Operations to deliver the portfolio. Acts as subject matter expert for design and operation of pharmaceutical scale up equipment and related technology within the global API manufacturing network supporting the BMS pipeline products. Partners with stakeholders in Global EHS&S, GPS Operations and within Product Development to identify continuous improvement opportunities for deployed technology. Drives alignment and executes as appropriate. . Partners with the Technology Robustness Lead to ensure successful implementation of new equipment and technology within the global network where requested to support BMS projects. May serves as Project Execution Lead and/or Process Engineer providing engineering scale up expertise for BMS portfolio projects involving novel modalities (i.e., oligonucleotides, peptides). Serves as plant operations lead in evaluation of plant capabilities at external suppliers and identifies gaps based on BMS portfolio requirements. Participates in the evaluation of potential new suppliers to the global network and leads technical discussions with regarding plant equipment and technology. Participates in evaluation of end to end (development to commercial) network opportunities for new technical capabilities.

Requirements:
  • BS/MS/PhD Degree in engineering. Practical experience directly relevant to the role is critical to success and minimum degree requirements change relative to experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a chemical and/or pharmaceutical plant environment.
  • GMP experience is a must.
  • Demonstrated excellence leading matrix and cross-divisional teams in an external network.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage ambiguity and risk and make decisions in the absence of complete data.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, team building, and communication skills.
  • Domestic and international travel (10-15%)
