Associate Director of Immunomics

The successful candidate will work as an Associate Director, Immunomics in iCarbonX’s R&D Group in San Ramon, California. S/he will be responsible for directing Immunomics R&D activities supporting the development of antibody binding, enzymatic, cytokine and cell-based assays to support immunology relevant diagnostic/health management product R&D.   The group will work on a range of diseases including autoimmune diseases, diabetes, infectious and other diseases. This position will work closely with other Omics R&D teams to integrate our multi-omics strategy in support of new product development for various clinical/health management solutions. The position requires adaptability, creativity, the ability to manage a group of research scientists and associates, good written and verbal communication skills, and a capacity for constant innovation in pursuit of company goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage and execute studies and projects for new applications of various immunoassay technologies, especially our proprietary ImmunoSignature technology
  • Draft and review scientific data and reports to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Play a lead role in selecting research projects and setting strategy
  • Recruit and develop resources in the Immunomics group
  • Demonstrate strong technical proficiency in immunoassays
  • Coordinate Immunomics related R&D activities with our R&D group in iCarbonX, Shenzhen, China
  • Interface with collaborators and/or customers on assigned projects
  • Propose novel strategies and technologies to solve scientific and technical challenges
  • Provide update of project status at periodic project review meetings
  • Work cross-functionally with other research teams and with other departments, both within and outside the company to drive programs forward into development
  • Mentor junior level scientists

Education:

  • Ph.D. in immunology, biology, or in the related field
  • 8+ years industry experience in immunoassay product development
  • Demonstrates a strong track record of productivity through product development, publication, or presentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in an inter disciplinary environment

Experience and Technical Skills Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of developing antibody/cytokine/cell based and other immunoassays
  • Experience designing and executing studies to evaluate, characterize or develop assays for clinical applications
  • Demonstrates a strong track record of productivity through product development, publication, or presentation
  • Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects in parallel
  • Dedicated, hard-working, and dependable
  • Strong communication, writing and data presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment

Additional Skills Desired:

  • Experience in leading, mentoring and providing guidance to junior scientists
  • Experience working in a GCLP and or FDA regulated environment is desired
  • Prior experience working in autoimmune diseases, neurodegeneration diseases or immune-oncology would be a plus
