bluebird bio seeks an experienced, highly motivated professional to lead and drive our Supply Chain launch readiness activities. In this role you will have a leadership position within the Global Supply Chain organization and work closely with leaders/key stakeholders within Commercial Ops., Patient Operations, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Finance, Program Management and External Partners and Suppliers. There is terrific opportunity to lead and evolve this function to support a broad portfolio and advance the overall Supply Chain capabilities to deliver therapies that transform the lives of patients.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Understand bluebird bio's Commercial launch strategy and requirements related to Supply Chain in Europe, US and Global and translate that into robust Supply Chain launch plan(s)
  • Represent Supply Chain in bluebird bio's Commercial (cross functional) launch strategy forums
  • Understand specific country, product, labeling, manufacturing, quality, and order to cash requirements for every launch that reflect the regulatory commitments in the jurisdiction
  • Create country specific launch plans and playbooks to meet country specific requirements, and validate it with key stakeholders
  • Build the appropriate Supply Chain launch team to ensure proper representation, knowledge, and ownership of the launch planning dimension and activities
  • Facilitate cross functional launch team planning to ensure critical path activities and the ownership of those are clear, and risk mitigation plan in place
  • Ensure the team has an effective communication mechanism to synchronize execution steps and adjust plan in a timely manner, a status reporting mechanism reflecting project health, and regular check points debriefing critical launch step activities
  • Lead post launch transition planning ensuring effective handover to daily operations team
  • Establish and operate launch performance metrics
  • Work with the Commercial launch team to ensure effective escalation path for timely issue resolution
  • Owns Supply Chain launch work stream to ensure successful plan implementation by working with the regional Supply Chain leadership team
  • Closely connect with Commercial Operations and Global Operations team to ensure prospective planning for launch countries on the horizon and provide input for the S&OP process

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of 15 years logistics and supply chain experience, ideally in the pharmaceutical industry and in a complex manufacturing/supply environment
  • Minimum educational requirement is a BS or a BA.
  • The ideal candidate is well versed in biopharma product launch and lifecycle management in a role leading regional launch planning and execution
  • Technical knowledge of biopharmaceutical product launch, working knowledge of CMC and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of GMP and working with Quality and manufacturing organizations
  • Knowledge in working directly with commercial operations on regional and country launch plans
  • Ability to work together with leadership team members
  • Demonstrated leadership quality and effectiveness setting up and leading cross functional teams in a global environment and in matrix setup
  • Experience in seeking out information related to launch requirements and formulate launch plan
  • Project management and resource planning experience
  • Designed and operated an effective post launch performance monitoring system
  • Must display strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to details is required; ability to anticipate variance and risks and develop options
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Highly collaborative team player who fosters open communication and facilitates mutual understanding and cooperation between all stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; working language English is a must
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, self-directed and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Quick learner of innovative technology/process/work environment and ability to translate learning to work plans for improving business performance
  • Must exhibit discipline in planning and plan execution
