We are seeking a highly motivated and a talented senior scientist to join Oncology Discovery Research at Eli Lilly and Company. Substantial experience in oncology, cancer cell signaling pathways, and translational research is highly desirable. Are you passionate about reducing complex biology and molecular pharmacology? You will work in a multidisciplinary organization, interacting with colleagues within the Oncology group as well as cross functional partners to develop breakthrough therapeutic opportunities. This will include:
  • Identification and validation of new molecular targets with strong genetic links for therapeutic application in the area of cancer cell signaling.
  • Participating in ongoing research projects as well as initiate new drug discovery research efforts.
  • Contribute at the bench as well as at strategic levels.
  • Be responsible for the development, optimization and execution of biochemical, cell-based assays to support drug discovery programs and advancement of lead molecules.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary teams in advancing lead therapeutic entities from concept to the clinic.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary setting, have detailed understanding of the molecular basis of cancer, strong written and oral communication skills, and ideally have experience in the training, supervision and development of technical staff.

Basic Qualifications
  • PhD in a relevant scientific field (e.g. cancer biology, molecular biology, cancer genetics).
  • Postdoctoral experience in the area of cancer and/or 0-5 years industrial-associated experience (pharma or biotech) highly preferred

Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Strong publication record including demonstrated record of cutting edge research as evidenced by first or senior authored publications in top tier journals
  • Strong background in cancer biology with deep knowledge and experience in the fields of drug discovery, and cell signaling as it relates to cancer.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply learning from in vitro settings to pre-clinical animal models.
  • Extensive experience with techniques in cell culture, molecular biology and biochemistry
  • Strong problem solving abilities and be familiar with understanding and resolving issues ranging from biology to drug development in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
  • In depth experience in genetically driven and/or drug development tumor models. Proven experience studying cancer signaling in a variety of tumor models is a plus.
  • Deep understanding on disease states in order to enhance the level of innovation, focus and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with the processes employed in moving a therapeutic opportunity from a cellular or molecular concept to proof of principle confirmation in vivo is seen as a significant advantage.
  • Strong problem solving ability and be familiar with understanding and resolving connectivity issues linking in vitro and in vivo research.
  • Leadership opportunities for those who have had supervisory experience and proven the ability to work with Research Associates in formulating the design and execution of experiments.
  • Participate in leading multidisciplinary teams in advancing projects to deliver molecules for clinical trial.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills will be required in communicating research strategy, findings and Team plans.
  • Self-management skills for timely and accurate completion of competing deliverables are required.
