Position Summary:

The Medical Director, Medical Affairs will be a key member of the Medical Affairs team and will help set strategy for both internal Company programs and external facing interactions. Internally, the Medical Director will coordinate with Clinical Development to ensure harmony between investigator sponsored trials and company sponsored development programs. The Director will also collaborate with Company outreach and patient advocacy efforts to assure that Medical Affairs activities align with these programs. The Director will also support the Commercial Organization with both branded and unbranded scientific education and provide appropriate support to Commercial activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with cross-functional Company team to set strategy and oversee IST program
  • Develop protocols and serve as medical monitor of Medical Affairs sponsored studies
  • Work with Scientific Communications Director on development of Medical Information on FAQs and standard response letters
  • Support development of content for MSL field use related to clinical trial data
  • Support planning and execution of Advisory Boards
  • Coordinate with Company Outreach and Patient Advocacy Team on interactions with community advocates and patient support groups
  • Support Commercial and Brand activity

  • M.D. degree strongly preferred
  • For non-M.D. candidates: Accredited doctorate degree in a life-science or basic-science discipline (i.e., Ph.D., Pharm.D.)
  • Minimum of 3 years' previous industry experience
  • Solid understanding of drug development and life-cycle development of a product
  • Ability to function independently to progress key projects with minimal direction and oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams with a commitment to cross-functional risk sharing, collaboration and learning that facilitates partnership, collective accountability and prompt, informed decision-making
  • Maintain clinical and technical expertise through review of the scientific literature and attendance at key scientific meetings
  • Excellent communicator, skilled at diplomacy and capable of effectively combining science and relationship building
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on commitments, to lead by example, and to enable others to effectively contribute
