Principal Scientist, Project Leader: Antibody therapeutics

Precision IBD is focused on the discovery and development of therapeutics and companion diagnostics for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) using a precision medicine approach.  With an integrated, multiplatform strategy we are able to identify dominant pathways in the pathogenesis of IBD.  To date this work has led to the identification of several new potential targets and drug candidates for the treatment of IBD.

Job Description:  We seek a motivated, detail-oriented Principal Scientist with strong bench skills and a demonstrated ability of leading early stage therapeutic antibody programs from initiation through IND.   The ideal candidate will have significant experience as a hands-on contributor and a leader in a matrixed drug discovery environment, have significant experience with antibody therapeutics from discovery through phase 1, and have experience in preclinical models of inflammation and fibrosis especially those related to inflammatory bowel disease.  Working knowledge of bioinformatics, statistics, and/or genetic linkage analysis a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute scientific, strategic, and logistic leadership across all Precision discovery and development programs.
  • Functioning as project leader;
  • Provide leadership and governance to cross-functional teams driving them towards successful completion of goals.
  • Communicate to upper management program progress and roadblocks.
  • With functional group leaders manage project budgets and timelines.
  • Demonstrate leadership by example with a rigorous bench-level effort.
  • Represent Precision to potential strategic partners and at scientific conferences.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a biological science.
  • More than 10 years of experience in a matrixed drug discovery environment, preferably a mix of small and large company.
  • Demonstrated success in leading an antibody therapeutic programs from discovery through IND filing.
  • Significant experience in inflammation and/or fibrosis research, from cell-based studies through preclinical disease models.
  • Significant experience in immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry and related techniques are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
