Bio-Techne's Boston location, Boston Biochem, primarily focuses on the development and production of specialized reagents that enable the study of the ubiquitin-proteasome and related signaling pathways, thereby facilitating drug discovery efforts of the international biomedical research community.
We seek a protein biochemist who will contribute to the ongoing research and development of products including complex assay systems, post-translationally modified proteins and peptides, and recombinant enzymes. The successful candidate will have previously purified proteins from bacterial, insect, and/or mammalian expression systems, and will have theoretical knowledge or hands-on experience with isolation of proteins from eukaryotic tissues.
Applied experience and basic scientific knowledge in protein purification is expected. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for detailed report writing. Additionally, the candidate should have sound problem solving and organizational skills. The candidate must be highly motivated and work well in a small-team environment. Furthermore, the candidate should have proficient problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills and be able to use technical discretion in the in design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project goals.
The position requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biological Sciences (no PhD’s) with 0-3 years of supplementary practical experience preferably in an industrial setting. Experience in the field of ubiquitin andor general cell signaling is a plus.
