Director, Scientific and Clinical Development
Bench International is a global executive search firm partnering with a science-driven company with an expertise in drug discovery and development to identify candidates for consideration for the role of Director, Scientific & Clinical Development. Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Development, this position is based in southern California.

The incumbent will have the unique opportunity to be engaged in everything from asset prioritization to first in human through regulatory approval, thus also encompassing regulatory interface and participation in NDAs and INDs as part of his/her remit. S/he will be expected to provide medical leadership and content expertise in collaboration with team members to ensure successful execution of clinical activities, data analysis and interpretation, and will additionally be responsible for literature review, study management and execution, strategic program management, key opinion leader and investigator interface and drug safety issues as they arise in the development program.

Experience / Qualifications:
Our Client is seeking a physician who brings energy along with the scientific training required to help propel their various programs forward. The chosen candidate will be excited and challenged by the opportunity to handle a great deal of variety and a diverse and growing portfolio in a remarkably rich role which offers across-the-board participation and exposure to all aspects of medical participation in the drug development process. S/he will be assigned programs consistent with his/her academic training and in other therapeutic areas. As such, a willingness and desire to experience diverse medical challenges will be necessary to add value to our Client’s multiple focus areas. Below, you will find some of the brief bulleted items on what our Client anticipates to be an excellent overview and match for this position:
- MD or MD/PhD with post-graduate training in internal medicine.
- Recently completed fellowship training in neurology, cardiovascular, pulmonary, hepatology or other internal medicine-based fellowships.
- Applicants with research experience (clinical or bench) during fellowship training are preferred.
- Experience with design and management of clinical studies preferred, but not required.
- Broad medical interests and aptitude are essential.
- Superior leadership, networking, collaboration and communication skills.
- Thorough respect for regulations and legal guidelines.
- Estimated travel (including international travel) 20-30%.
