We are seeking a highly motivated and talented scientist to join the AbbVie Global Biologics organization. This individual will provide dedicated support to the Biologics Drug Biology group by conducting in vivo and in vitro studies elucidating biology of both novel targets and novel therapeutics. The selected candidate will be part of an exciting and fast-paced team working on drug discovery with internal and external cross-functional groups from different therapeutic areas including metabolic diseases, immunology, oncology and aging.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Plan and execute in vivo and in vitro experiments to characterize novel biologics

• Process animal tissues and execution of downstream ex vivo analyses including qPCR, WB, IHC, ELISA and FACS

• Use multiple techniques to study in vivo distribution of novel biologics, target expression and engagement

• Manage and expand cell line collection

• Keep accurate electronic records of experiments and activities, providing timely report of experimental results at group meetings

• The individual will be fully integrated into several project teams and accounted for the prosecution of project activities leading to team success

Position will be hired based on level of experience.

  • BS in biology or related field with 5+ years of experience or MS with 2+ years of experience
  • Expertise in rodent handling, multiple dosing, physical evaluation and measurement techniques, blood collection, small surgery, in vivo imaging, necropsy, tissue collection and processing for various downstream applications
  • Experience with mouse cancer models, including human xenograft models is highly desirable
  • Hands-on experience with mammal cell culture techniques, sterile tissue processing, primary cell isolation and handling
  • Proficiency in a wide range of molecular biology and immunology techniques (qPCR, WB, IHC, ELISA, FACS) for characterization of different aspects of cell biology and a willingness to adopt new skills as needed
  • Experience with different imaging techniques and image analysis is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, execute and troubleshoot experiments to generate reliable and reproducible data in timely manner
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organization skills, ability to work in a demanding and intellectually challenging environment, teamwork across multiple scientific disciplines and functions
