Job Description:

The Clinical Nurse Educator (Oncology)is responsible for the management of assigned area comprised of practicing physicians, hospitals, and other health-related organizations. This responsibility requires the development of a comprehensive business plan to achieve the potential of the assigned area which includes California, Nevada and Arizona. the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) calls on targeted healthcare professionals to enroll them in educational programs and provides formal and informal educational programs to healthcare professionals and patients.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Establish and develop strategically sound business plans and tactical strategies within the assigned area to achieve individual, territory and company goals for doctor calls and appropriate healthcare professional and patient participation in education programs.
  • Manage daily program enrollment calls and educational activity to optimize time and maximize the achievement of program objectives.
  • Formulate individual program enrollment calls/education program plans designed to increase knowledge
  • Recognize changes and emerging trends in the marketplace, develop and implement alternate plans to achieve territory and company objectives.
  • Provide participating physicians with proper enrollment materials
  • Meet with identified healthcare professionals in each participating practice to engage them and enroll them in educational programs.
  • Educate on company materials and assist the practice in evaluating patients within targeted disease state.
  • Offer and conduct both formal and informal training sessions for designated staff in an objective, balanced and scientifically accurate fashion. Follow up appropriately to continue to assess and meet practice needs for training.
  • Coordinate activities to ensure participant enrollment, conference facilities, equipment, supplies and communications for training programs are handled. Collect and submit all required data forms.
  • Maintain the required up to date technical expertise.
  • Ensure clear, concise and accurate communication of program information using proper medical terminology utilizing only program approved materials.
  • Make daily decisions based on logic and factual information after weighing alternatives and their consequences.
  • Represent company at National and/or local conventions if applicable.
  • Conduct field work-with Ipsen colleagues.
  • Effectively and timely communicate with Regional Field Managers and other members of the commercial team.
  • Demonstrate persistence to accomplish objectives despite disappointments and/or rejection of original efforts.
  • Create and maintain a positive working relationship with customers.
  • Project a professional business image as demonstrated by neat physical appearance, and appropriate manner of speech.
  • Maintain all company-provided equipment in good operating condition.
  • Accurately and timely perform all administrative responsibilities (record call activity, time in/out of the field, expense reports, regular and ad hoc reports requested by manager)
  • Overnight attendance at training meetings
  • Perform special projects and assignments as directed by the Field Manager.
  • Required travel up to 75%.


Education / Experience
  • Bachelor' degree from accredited college or university
  • Registered Nurse (current license in good standing in the state in which you work)
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience required with 3 of 5 years in oncology nursing
  • Previous pharmaceutical oncology nurse educator experience strongly preferred
  • OCN or strongly preferred
  • Proven customer focus
  • Demonstrated strong listening skills
  • Demonstrated team work/collaboration
  • Strong organizing/planning skills/disciplined, attention to details
  • Ability to perform administrative responsibilities accurately and on time
  • Proven ability to exercise judgment with sound decision making skills
  • Computer Proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Industry a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to identify critical activities and tasks and adjusts priorities to meet organizational goals and objectives. Agility in multitasking
  • Proven ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written English Communication skills; excellent teaching and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to read situations quickly, anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks
  • Valid driver's license in state in which you reside
  • Ability to travel up to 75% by automobile and mass transportation
