Job Description:

Position Summary

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will actively participate in the accounting close and financial reporting process for Ipsen Bioscience and Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals. This position works with tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, financial and management reporting as well as year-end audit preparation related activities. This position is based in Basking Ridge, NJ as part of the Ipsen North America Core Services Team.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

General Accounting Functions:
  • Active role in journal entry preparation of bank cash activities, certain Gross to Net account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, vendor maintenance, month end journal entries posting for non-Accounting team members.
  • Actively participate in month end accounting process.
  • Prepare account analyses and reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Gross to Net journal entry posting and TM1 sales reporting for Ipsen Bioscience and Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals.

Group Reporting and special projects
  • Execute monthly BFC corporate reporting for Ipsen Bioscience, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and an efficient process.
  • Cash management request with Group Treasury for Ipsen Bioscience and Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals.
  • Work on other projects as necessary.

Other responsibilities
  • Communication and coordination with other departments on various financial issues.
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff


Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required in Accounting or Finance related field
  • CPA highly preferred

Experience
  • 5+ years of public and private industry experience with progressively responsible financial accounting role
  • Big 4 Accounting Firm experience highly preferred
  • Ability to quickly acclimate to complex financial accounting applications.
  • SAP experience highly preferred


Core Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)

Core Competencies/Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry highly preferred
  • Knowledge of BFC reporting preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP, especially SAP Asset Management module and BFC highly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a detailed and extensive technical expertise as well as an application of accounting principles, concepts, theories, and practices.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in the use of spreadsheet programs and other software applications for financial analysis and financial modeling
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to various levels of an organization. Strong proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills to prioritize and coordinate workload with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
