AveXis, Inc., a Novartis Company , is a clinical-stage gene therapy company, dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product candidate, AVXS-101, is our proprietary gene therapy product candidate currently in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, Type 1, the leading genetic cause of infant mortality, and for the treatment of SMA Type 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has granted AVXS-101 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of all types of SMA and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, as well as Fast Track Designation for the treatment of SMA Type 1. In addition to developing AVXS-101 to treat SMA Type 1 and Type 2, we also plan to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome (RTT) and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.

AveXis is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor with the ability to handle multiple projects while supervising the Accounts Payable team. This role will ensure workloads are distributed properly with the team and make changes as necessary. They will be accountable for managing the 1099 yearly tax filing for vendors and providing information on delayed payments, status of projects, and performance of the team. Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the 1099 yearly tax filings.
  • Prepare account analysis as required.
  • Assist in preparing accounts payable related financial reports for management.
  • Reconcile vendor statements.
  • Review and approve all coded invoices for accuracy.
  • Ensure invoices are entered accurately and meet deadlines.
  • Manage monthly close of accounts payable and ensure unprocessed invoices and expenses are properly accounted for.
  • Ensure departmental timelines are met and prioritize duties of the team.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new accounts payable practices and procedures.
  • Build customer/vendor relations, help with in depth vendor issues, and research problems.
  • Manage vendor and project management questions.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Supervise staff of payable specialists and other accounting personnel.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory and Accounts Payable specialist experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with vendors, project managers, and upper management.
  • ERP accounts payable experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail with strong organization skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
