Oncology is a key therapeutic area for AbbVie, with a portfolio consisting of three marketed products - Imbruvica®, Venclexta™, and Empliciti™ - and a pipeline containing multiple promising new molecules that are being studied in nearly 200 clinical trials in 19 different types of cancer.

AbbVie is expanding its oncology hub on the West Coast, with three sites in the San Francisco Bay Area (Redwood City, South San Francisco, and Sunnyvale) focused on the discovery and development of novel oncology therapies. More than 1,000 AbbVie scientists, clinicians, and product developers with strong entrepreneurial roots work across these three sites. They combine their expertise in immuno-oncology, stem cells, and cell-signaling with their knowledge of bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and covalent-inhibitor technologies to discover and develop novel cancer treatments. This position will be based at Stemcentrx, AbbVie's South San Francisco, CA location.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person or via phone to diagnose and resolve end user technical hardware, software issues while maintaining operational level agreement
  • Provide support and analysis for all systems troubleshooting participating on major incidents, service restoration and

    problem management
  • Manage and maintain vulnerability patch management infrastructure across all supported systems
  • Administration and operations of daily checks, tasks and changes to Windows, Linux, Virtualization, Storage and backup systems
  • Use VMWare tools/deploy/configure/manage Windows & Linux Server, Virtual Desktop Machines in Hyperconverged environment
  • Maintain data center infrastructure and environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Partner with business users to provide support for infrastructure and application development projects
  • Produce and maintain timely, accurate design, implementation, operations documentation
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures & present proposed changes to the Infrastructure Review Boards
  • Participate in on-site daily coverage with overnight on-call support and occasional weekend support as required for the planned projects and maintenance activities
  • Act as the primary IT operations contact for the regional projects. Typically interacts with the business users, IT peers, management, 3rd party vendors and managed service providers.

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, other related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience supporting IT operations (pharmaceuticals industry experience is preferred but not required)
  • Minimum of 2 years experiences in previous roles supporting/performing Operating Systems administration (VMWare, Windows, Storage, Linux)
  • VMWare ESXi experience eg. 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 - migrate, build, configure, maintain.
  • Advanced Windows 2012 / Windows 2008 / Windows 7, Windows 10 operating systems experience.
  • Industry relevant Windows, Linux & Virtualization certifications
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
