DESCRIPTION:

  • AbbVie Oncology Discovery is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cell Biologist with a proven track record of accomplishments in the cancer field. Background in protein stability (translation, degradation), and/or classical oncogenic signaling pathways preferred.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently conceive and execute experimental strategies to identify/validate novel cancer targets
  • Lead/support drug discovery programs and develop translational plans
  • Operate in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, interacting with diverse groups of experts within or outside of his/her scientific discipline
  • Prioritize and manage multiple research activities and possess a broad range of technical expertise and knowledge in cancer biology

Basic:
  • BS, MS or Ph.D in Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics/Genomics, Pharmacology, Oncology or related field with 7+ (BS), 5+ (MS), or 0+ (Ph.D) years of job related experience.
  • Broad experience and technical proficiency in standard biochemical, cellular and molecular biology techniques (i.e. western blotting, RT-qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry).
  • Organizational skills and experience with computer programs, including Microsoft Excel, FlowJO, and GraphPad..
  • Extensive laboratory research experience and a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role with a high level of experimental vigor and quality
  • Impactful research experience demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and/or co-authorship on presentations at scientific conferences
  • Proven effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to operate in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment
Preferred:
  • Previous experience in drug discovery, either in an academic or industrial setting
  • Familiarity with methods of Antibody characterization
