Position Overview

Directs the planning and execution of projects integrating primary market research, commercial analysis, forecasting, and competitive intelligence.

Directs the research and analysis of business opportunities and actively participates in and support in-licensing, business development, and M&A special projects. Directs the analytics team to support business processes within marketing, business development, corporate development, corporate projects, and other departments. Organizes projects, establishes and focuses on priorities, manages time and resources appropriately, exercise sound judgment and decision-making. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Participates with the Executive Team in the development of strategic plans and objectives. Plays a key role in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures objectives are achieved. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. Directs the design, execution, and integration of quantitative analyses of primary and secondary market data to assist with the development of recommendations. Independently directs and develops project work plans that meet client needs within time and resource constraints and applies structured problem solving approaches to business problems. Directs the development, production, and interpretation of standard analysis deliverables such as Monthly Reports. Works on multiple complex, simultaneous projects and brings them to completion. Develops and delivers sophisticated messages/presentations to senior management explaining complex concepts clearly. Works with and leads team members to successfully accomplish team and individual goals. Identifies and selects outside vendors and manages their efforts as needed. Designs and executes multivariate techniques in primary research or spreadsheets using data manipulation capabilities such as, pivot tables, macros, etc? Independently conducts complex analyses using advanced statistical capabilities of SAS or other common statistical analysis packages. Ensures that routine and ad-hoc projects meet service level expectations for quality and timeliness. Proactively develops proficiency in the commercial analytics functions. Proactively suggests and conducts analysis to aid with strategic direction of the business. Develops and manages budgets. Handles sensitive communications effectively displaying a high level of professionalism. Provides regular performance feedback development and coaching to direct reports.

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a Business, Marketing or other relevant discipline is required. An advanced degree such as and MBA is preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 15 years marketing, business or other relevant experience is required. A minimum of 12 years experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry or related business experience which suggests a solid business acumen is required. A minimum of 12 years previous management experience is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must be able to demonstrate experience with 'best practices' in quantitative analysis. Must be experienced with commonly used pharmaceutical data sources (i.e. DDD, Xponent, NDC, etc?) in retail and non-retail environments. Good computer skills including knowledge of analysis and reporting software (i.e. SAS, Excel, etc?) are required. Must be fluent in the market research discipline. Experience developing presentations for audiences such as Executive Management is required. Must demonstrate leadership, productivity and follow-through skills. Solid understanding of sales and marketing, as well as good grounding in both clinical and financial aspects of product evaluation is required. Must have demonstrated successful performance in strategic/operational analysis and planning, analytical techniques, financial and market assessments. Excellent project management, analytical, and organizational skills are required. Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively individually as well as in teams.
