Seeking an individual with experience in grants management (budget planning, site and Investigator negotiations/contracting, and expense management), to provide a single point of contact for clinical/project teams for the end-to-end management of budgeting, contracting and expense management focusing on Investigator contracts for BMS-sponsored studies. The Grant Manager will ensure that budgeting and contracting is compliant, efficient and supports team goals for project initiation and study start-up; they will accelerate the approval and execution of contracts and improve the quality and timely sharing of budget projections and performance. He/she will also interact with Investigators and site contracting/financial professionals to discuss sponsor and institutional perspectives on contract and financial terms.

The role will ensure that budget planning is accurate and based on internal and external benchmarking data and that amounts reflected in our financial statement are supported by appropriately documented arms-length transactions reflective of Fair Market Value. The successful candidate will work with Associate Directors of Grant Management to build the GM organization - training staff and developing standard processes, tools and procedures for the organization. They will have subject matter expertise in pharmaceutical budgeting, negotiations and contracting.. Key responsibilities include: • Identify contractual needs for study/project teams and appropriate funding sources and approvals • Determine appropriate program-/study-/site-level budgets • Ensure delivery of end-to-end study budget and contract support: site contracts and budgets, site negotiations, coordination with global hubs, fund creation/mgmt, ensuring timely payment to sites and vendors, and providing teams with regular financial status updates • Ensure site relations are positively supported through timely and professional interactions • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects.

Bachelor's degree (Health Sciences or Finance preferred) and 3+ years experience negotiating legal and/or financial agreements, preferably in pharmaceutical industry clinical trials; or Master's degree with 2+ years clinical trial agreement/financial experience. Working knowledge of Pharmaceutical R&D grant management processes and associated policies, procedures, business practices and systems. Knowledge of BMS budget planning and approval processes and governance structure preferred; as is familiarity with BMS' operations, financial, and legal framework and tools (ECLIPSE, SAP, ARIBA). Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus. Strong conflict resolution skills with the ability to resolve problems independently, analytical skills and knowledge of good financial practices. Ability to multi-task within and across projects, prioritize and manage timelines effectively. Ability to sustain high levels of performance in a constantly changing environment.
