Principal Scientist in Cellular Immunology (D7/17)

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for running independent project(s) in the areas of autoimmunity and immuno-oncology. Additionally, this position will have an additional focus on translational studies related to the project needs, where this leader will represent on various preclinical discovery teams to advise and execute the in vitro and ex-vivo translational experimental plans. This individual will mostly work independently and provide guidance in the design, execution and interpretation of biochemical and cellular immunology assays to the project teams and people s/he leads. The candidate will be represent on various project teams as an immunologist and translational biology representative. Other responsibilities include scientific management of and working closely with other scientists within drug discovery teams and to coordinate studies with several different functional groups in a matrix environment. Clear communication with stake-holders, people and project management in a complex matrix environment, and mentoring and inspiring the team members are other key responsibilities.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Immunology or a related field, with 10-15 years of postgraduate work experience; substantial portion of which would be in biotech, Pharma or biopharma setting. At least 3-4 years of post-doctoral training in immunology lab of repute is required. Industry experience in leading immunology drug discovery projects in biotechs, biopharma or pharmaceutical industry (ies) is a must have. Knowledge of adaptive and innate cellular immunology including, T/ B/NK/ILC/DC biology, immune tolerance, current literature knowledge of immune-checkpoint inhibitors, and translational studies is required. This position requires extensive experience with primary immune cell-based functional assays such as primary cell differentiation, proliferation, cytokine measurements, receptor binding and occupancy, and cellular signaling using appropriate biochemical and pharmacological techniques. Extensive experience using latest flow-cytometry analysis and sorting techniques, and a working knowledge of bioinformatics is considered a plus. Evidence of supervisory responsibility in academia or industry, and/or project leadership, with good communication skills and evidence of a publication record in peer reviewed immunology journals are considered key qualifications.
