Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

Project Description: This internship will provide the opportunity to learn about CHO cell metabolism and how soy hydrolysate incorporated into media used in the upstream process can impact cell culture growth and productivity. The intern would conduct a study to investigate how dipeptides impact the growth and productivity of VEGF or REGN88 by spiking additional dipeptides into the cell culture media, running a shake flask cell culture model, and drawing conclusions from the daily sampling data. Peak cell densities, final cell viabilities, and final titer concentration would be the primary data to be analyzed. This proof of concept study would investigate flexible nodes in the metabolic pathways that control cell growth and productivity as well as help to develop an understanding of the mechanism of how these dipeptides impact CHO cells.

The intern will be working in the Process Sciences upstream laboratory to acquire hands-on experience designing experiments and performing cell culture operations such as media/feed preparation, thaw procedures, and aseptic manipulations.
