Instructional Designer (ID) is responsible for partnering with content Subject-Matter Experts, project team members and other content developers to design and develop eLearning and instructor-led learning solutions. The ID's main goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. Proven experience is required to deliver the following learning outputs:

• eLearning solutions
• Instructor-led solutions
• Learning assessments (Level 1-3)
• Facilitator/participant guides
• Train-the-Train (TTT) materials
• Training outlines
• Storyboards and training scripts

The ID will need to understand and adhere to basic adult learning principles in order to create engaging learning activities. Additional responsibilities may include identifying target audience's training needs, testing course functionality, developing maintenance plans, making updates to courses and training materials based on post assessment feedback. This role ensures that high-quality, innovative, timely, and effective learning solutions are delivered and coordinated with other media, support and learning management systems.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supports project management, instructional design, development, delivery, and implementation of system projects.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning, knowledge of instructional design, and familiar with the ADDIE model.
  • Works with subject matter experts and identify target audience's training needs
  • Creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
  • Develops design documents, storyboards, audio scripts, graphic images, communications and other supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.).
  • Applies knowledge of blended learning and state-of-the-art learning technologies to the development of training curriculum and materials.
  • Redesigns courses for online presentation that are conducive to distance learning programs while still adhering to academic goals of the instructor-led training.
  • Supports training plans and creates and supports system maintenance plans as required.
  • Assists to determine the criteria used to judge learner's performance and develop assessment instruments.
  • Coordinates, develops and distributes learning materials (e-learning, manuals, job aids, Train the Trainer materials, etc.).
  • Provides support to Subject Matter Experts and learners.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously, creates and manages tactical project timelines, contributes to project status meetings.
  • Responds to client feedback as required.
  • Works with communications teams to support training deployments.
  • Provides input to selection of tools and technologies for training development (new and innovative solutions).
  • Designs and develops collaborative SharePoint sites.

  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years instructional design experience (analysis, storyboarding, etc) or equivalent ID experience obtained within bachelor program.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio/video scripts is required.
  • Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite that includes in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, and MS Project is required.
  • Knowledge in the use of development tools is required. This could include the Articulate 360 suite or the Adobe Creative Suite that includes Presenter, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, Captivate or Flash.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System are required.
  • Experience in the delivery of learning through various modalities is required (Instructor Led (classroom), virtual classroom, eLearning, Social/Mobile Learning).
  • Project Management skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are highly desired.
  • Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge are highly desired.
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills are highly desired.
  • Experience with SharePoint and Graphic Design highly desired.
  • Experience working in a regulated (i.e., pharmaceutical) environment is highly desired.
