Overview

Job Summary

Responsible for managing Assertio's overall procurement strategy and operations. The position will develop and monitor key supplier relationships, establish business partners across functions, and implement strategies to source the business effectively and in compliance with our policies. This position will report to the VP, Finance.

Operational responsibilities include checks requisitions, obtaining quotes, examining bids and making awards. Evaluates vendor reliability; develops new supply sources, as required, in which current vendors and suppliers are inadequate. Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. As required, monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.

Essential Job Functions

  • Review the Company's existing buying patterns to further develop procurement strategy for sourcing company supplies, materials and equipment from approved vendors with the aim of reducing overall costs.
  • Perform vendor evaluations of current and potential suppliers of goods and services, including performing quarterly business reviews.
  • Qualify, negotiate with, and select suppliers in partnership with relevant internal stakeholders and consult with corporate legal and senior management to minimize risk.
  • Create and review reports for spend analysis and identification of sourcing opportunities and/or vendor consolidation.
  • Oversee/manage timely generation and communication of purchase order information to suppliers and internal stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization including: legal, finance, tax and various teams.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of company operations and activities to ensure purchasing initiatives leverage across functions and projects.
  • Comply with all chemical and lab supply ordering/tracking requirements and procedures.
  • Participate in other cross-functional projects and initiatives as required, according to current business needs.
  • Maintain all purchase orders and agreements within the electronic requisition system and transmit orders to vendors as needed.
  • Initiate purchase orders and purchase order amendments for services and/or other requirements while targeting cost reductions goals.
  • Maintain close coordination with internal purchase requisition community and accounts payable team to ensure timely execution of product and services, sourcing activities and invoice payment.
  • Assist in flowing inventory transactions through the system on a weekly basis.
  • Assist in tracking the Company's inventory quantities at various CMO locations.


Responsibilities

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of purchasing experience (3-5 years of direct purchasing experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry preferred, but not required).
  • Proven track record of Purchasing/Materials experience and negotiation successes
  • Detail oriented, well organized and able to effectively perform multiple tasks
  • Proven Supervisory and Project leadership/management skills
  • Assertive, diplomatic, self-directing and collaborative
  • Willing to hold others accountable and able to manage across and throughout the organization
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and listening skills
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in SOX compliance preferred
