Regeneron is seeking a talented and motivated PhD level bacteriologist to join a laboratory working on diagnostic and immunotherapeutic approaches for infectious diseases. This candidate will conduct a range of experiments related to target discovery, assay development, diagnostic proof of concept experiments and monoclonal antibody evaluation and selection. The strong candidate will have deep understanding of bacterial pathogenesis and the ability to perform in vivo experiments in addition to diverse in vitro assays as needed (molecular biology, cellular microbiology and biochemistry).

Responsibilities
- Work creatively and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, and present research findings to interdisciplinary teams in high quality presentations
- Independently design and execute in vivo experiments to develop animal models of infectious diseases and test efficacy of therapeutics
- Execute in vitro assays as needed to explore and characterize potential targets, including generating knock out strains, cellular microbiology experiments, and biochemical characterization
- Develop screening assays for the identification and characterization of therapeutic antibodies
- Analyze and interpret data, including large datasets
- May directly or indirectly lead, guide, and assist Research Associates in conducting research
- Perform routine tasks involved in running a microbiology laboratory, including knowledge of routine sterile techniques, basic safety procedures within a BL2 laboratory and correct storage and handling of bacteria

- Minimum of a PhD degree with 0-3 years post-graduate experience
- Motivated and able to handle multiple projects at once
- Experience working with pathogenic bacteria or parasites is required; experience with Borrelia burgdorferi would be an advantage
- Willingness to handle mice and perform animal studies is required
