Join bluebird bio's enthusiastic and collaborative team and contribute to the overall success of our novel gene therapy approaches. bluebird bio seeks an outstanding CMC Operations & Strategic Planning Manager to drive resource and budget management across CMC. We seek candidates with proven ability to successfully integrate activities and perspectives across functions to achieve optimized resource and budgeting plans, with the goal of delivering therapies that transform the lives of patients.

About the role:
  • Develop and maintain integrated CMC portfolio resource and budgets across all CMC functions, being able to generate utilization data for each department to assist in short and long-term resource planning. Facilitate short-term and Long-Range Planning activities for CMC
  • Partner with CMC Operations & Strategic Planning Project Managers to provide guidance on cost and FTEs requirements related to program timelines for multiple complex development projects to achieve product development and manufacturing goals
  • Interact with Finance to appraise them of changes in risks, cost and assignment of work orders to specific functions and tasks
  • Effectively communicate with CMC Ops & SP project managers, CMC team members, CMC senior leaders and CMC key stakeholders on resource & budgeting
  • Approximately 25% of the time provide project management or operational excellence support for CMC teams/sub-teams, as needed.

About you:

Education/Experience requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in the life sciences
  • 5+ years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience. Previous experience in analytical development, process development and/or manufacturing of biologics/cell & gene therapy preferred.
  • 3+ years of Project Management at a fast-paced, innovative biotech/pharma company with biologics or cell & gene therapy preferred.
  • 2+ years of resource and budgeting experience at a pharmaceutical/biotech across the drug development lifecycle. Experience with building or managing all or part of an integrated resource management approach (modeling, forecasting, tracking, reporting) preferred.
  • Experience using Business Analytics tools a plus (i.e. PowerBI, Tableau, etc).

Soft Skills:
  • Proven ability to distill complex data across multiple programs into an intuitive, simple and clear communication to facilitate prioritization and resourcing
  • Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, highly-matrixed work environment
  • Independently motivated, detail oriented and great problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence without authority across multiple functions.
