The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Associate Director of FP&A and will serve as the Finance Business Partner to the Pharmaceuticals Sciences / CMC team. The Pharm Sci team is responsible for all process development, manufacturing and drug delivery activities for bringing bluebird's therapies to patients, both Clinical and Commercial. Primary responsibilities for the FP&A role will include: managing the Pharm Sci annual budget, forecasting, and the long-range plan. In-depth understanding of bluebird's Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs), Cost of Goods (COGs) and associated financial activities. In addition to supporting Pharm Sci, the position will also provide FP&A support to the overall business through monthly reporting and ad-hoc analysis when necessary. The individual filling this role will bring the right mix of business partnership and financial acumen.

About the Role:
  • Finance business partner to Pharm Sci, supporting finance activities
  • Coordinate the annual budget, forecasting, and long-range plan for Pharm Sci
  • Build Pharm Sci financial forecast & expense models, including inventory and COGs
  • Participate in standard cost accounting process for our CMOs in partnership with our Accounting team
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Patient Operations to understand production schedules, contracts, drug product and inventory movement
  • Work closely with Process Development understanding activities and cost drivers
  • Partner with Accounting on the monthly close process including inventory, material costs, margin analysis and supporting financial analytics
  • Manage monthly variance reporting for Pharm Sci and support total company reporting
  • Provide commentary and analytics to identify trends and model enhancements
  • Partner with manufacturing to understand cost drivers and variances at CMOs
  • Daily user of Oracle Planning Budgeting Cloud Services (PBCS)

About You:
  • Degree in accounting or finance required, MBA/CPA is a plus
  • Experience providing financial analysis support to either a manufacturing or Pharm Sci/CMC organization is required
  • Biotech industry experience is a plus
  • Experience with CMOs, inventory, and cost accounting (COGs) is desirable
  • Demonstrated leadership of the planning and reporting process
  • Ability to develop and implement new systems, and work collaboratively in a cross functional environment
  • Must have strong knowledge of the MS Office Suite (heavy Excel use)
  • Knowledge of Oracle Planning Budgeting Cloud Services (PBCS) is preferred
  • Knowledge of Oracle Hyperion Financial Reports (HFR) is desirable
  • Independently motivated, detail oriented and good problem-solving ability
  • Excellent organizational skills, sufficient to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with changing priorities
