Position Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Accounting and Shared Services, this position will manage the Shared Services Accounts Payable Department for North America. This currently includes Ipsen Bioscience and Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals in the US with the plans to integrate Canada in the near future. The Manager / Sr. Manager Accounts Payable will develop and document policies and procedures and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiencies of the payment process. This position is based in Basking Ridge, NJ as part of the Ipsen North America Core Services Team.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Develop and document accounts payable policies and procedures based on best practices to support a growing, changing organization
  • Lead and mentor the accounts payable staff. Establish clear and measurable goals for the team
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders in the accounts payable process including operations, finance, purchasing and vendors
  • Maintain proper internal controls in the accounts payable process
  • Ensure the accurate recording of suppliers' invoices and related transactions in the accounting system
  • Liaise with individuals that are part of the purchase to pay process when there are invoices blocked for payment
  • Monitor the invoices backlog and ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices
  • Actively contribute to the continuous process improvement of the accounts payable and purchase to pay processes including minimizing payments by check
  • Establish and monitor accounts payable KPI's to evaluate staff productivity
  • Ensure accurate, timely filing of Forms 1099
  • Maintain proper internal controls in the accounts payable process
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff


Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Business or Finance related field


Experience
  • 8+ years' experience with progressively responsible financial management role
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience
  • In-depth experience with Accounts Payable systems, processes, and banking institution requirements including 1099 filing experience
  • SAP experience highly preferred


Core Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)

Core Competencies/Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
  • Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures including accrual accounting, GR/IR and internal controls required
  • Knowledge of Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry a plus
  • Analytical ability and experience developing and monitoring Account Payable KPI's
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in the use of spreadsheet programs and other software applications for financial analysis
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to various levels of an organization. Strong proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills to prioritize and coordinate workload with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
