AbbVie Oncology is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual as a leader in bioinformatics/computational biology to play a key role in a multi-disciplinary team focused on developing new therapies and biomarkers for treatment of cancer. The successful candidate will be responsible to provide bioinformatics support for genomics and biomarker studies across entire lifespan of oncology drug R&D, from early target discovery/validation, to biomarker applications in clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interrogate large scale pre-clinical and clinical -omics data sets such as NGS, microarray, proteomics, single cell sequencing, etc., and clinical information to generate and test biomarker hypotheses, and apply the biomarker strategy through clinical trial studies.
  • Analyze complex data from pre-clinical models and clinical samples to support novel target identification, prioritization and validation for the treatment of cancer.
  • Collaborate with a diverse set of scientists from molecular biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, biostatistics and clinical backgrounds, as well as colleagues in development, regulatory, etc. to generate impactful analyses to support existing and identify new therapeutic opportunities.
  • Build and maintain world-class bioinformatics capability (genomic and lab technologies, genomic databases, analytics methodology, software and pipelines) to support oncology projects including early target discovery, biomarker identification and validation, and clinical trial applications.

Grade level and title will be commensurate with experience.

  • BS, MS, Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, or statistical genetics with 12+ (BS), 10+ (MS), 4+ (Ph.D) years of experience and demonstrated skills/accomplishments in an oncology setting; Grade level and title will be commensurate withexperience.
  • Expertise in computational biology/bioinformatics, genetic and genomic analyses, data and literature mining, disease and biological pathway and gene network/ systems biology analysis.
  • Good grasp of drug development, biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology and related subjects.
  • Experience with biomarker strategies for drug development in areas including epigenetics, apoptosis, small molecule, antibody or antibody-drug conjugate, and immuno-oncology is highly valued.
  • Strong programming and data analytical skills, expertise in various bioinformatics software, databases, and programing packages. Experience of working with cloud based high-performance computation environment, machine learning and AI application in biotech field is highly valued.
  • Team work, strong presentation and communication skills with people from different academic backgrounds and job responsibilities.
