Join bluebird bio's enthusiastic and collaborative team and contribute to the overall success of our novel gene therapy approaches. bluebird bio seeks a Maintenance Planner Scheduler for our new manufacturing facility in North Carolina's Research Triangle. You will have responsibilities for facilitating the delivery of maintenance and calibration services by managing the CMMS solution, planning and scheduling work as required to ensure equipment is maintained according to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. This role will support the overall facilities operations and services. This individual will work with closely with cross-functional bluebird team, including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Facilities, Manufacturing Sciences & Technology and Process Development.

About the role:

The Maintenance Planner performs, plans, directs, coordinates and controls the scheduled and routine facility maintenance and calibration executed on site. The role will coordinate with manufacturing and Quality Control to plan and schedule servicing activities and shutdown work. The role will procure all required parts and services in preparation of scheduled events and manage the parts inventory. This role will also be responsible to manage and administer the CMMS system along with reviewing/approving executed work events. The role works closely with the Facilities maintenance and calibration technicians along with manufacturing department.

About you:
  • Create and maintains libraries for Preventive Maintenance Job Plans, Data Sheets, Assets, Materials, Tools and Labor in BMRAM.
  • Establish proper task sequence, duration, technicians, tools, materials and parts to properly execute the job.
  • Participate and represent maintenance planning and scheduling function in daily and weekly planning meetings with production and operations representatives.
  • Schedule weekly maintenance work in agreement with production, engineering and maintenance teams, and in accordance with Safety and Environmental requirements, ensuring limited down time, and promoting technician workload productivity.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and maintenance materials in the parts warehouse. Manage Critical GMP Spares Parts program.
  • Track and ensure service contracts and vendor qualified status are updated and in place, as required.
  • Generate vendor contracts, purchase orders, and qualifications by coordinating with service providers, vendors, and internal legal, finance, and quality representatives.
  • Support the technicians for shipping out equipment for repairs and schedule onsite services by external vendors and providers, as required.
  • Support new asset onboarding in accordance with procedures and practices.
  • Lead the implementation of CMMS preventative maintenance, calibration, and spare parts program.
  • Administer the site CMMS system releasing scheduled events, opening emergent work and closing work orders and requests.
  • Establish and maintains a reliable network of outside vendors and suppliers to ensure cost effective and timely support of the maintenance function.
  • Support the hiring of contractors or subcontractors to perform maintenance work to specialized or extensive to be performed by the maintenance staff.
  • Reviews and approves maintenance and calibration events for accuracy and GMP compliance.
  • Establishes and communicates the level of quality and safety expected in the performance of maintenance tasks.
  • ASQ certified Quality Auditor preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Prior maintenance planning/coordination experience or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years previous maintenance or equivalent experience in a GMP manufacturing facility.
  • Working knowledge & experience using BMRAM for planning purposes.
  • Must have strong computer/database management skills, including ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets.
  • Must be proficient using computers & software programs such as various CMMS and Microsoft Products (Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to effectively prioritize tasks that align to changing business needs.
