We are seeking a senior bioinformatician with significant academic and/or industry experience to lead a team of approximately 5 PhD-level bioinformaticians at our new site in Cambridge, MA. You and your team will use cutting-edge bioinformatic approaches to integrate and analyze genomic datasets from preclinical studies, clinical samples, and real-world datasets to identify mechanisms of resistance to current oncology and immuno-oncology therapies. You will collaborate with experts in oncology and drug discovery inside and outside of BMS to advance our understanding of resistance to current therapies and develop new approaches to benefit patients.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of PhD level data scientists responsible for analyzing complex data sets
  • Recruit and develop talent
  • Set priorities, balance team workload
  • Provide expert technical experience in the development and implementation of bioinformatics analysis methods
  • Partner with key stakeholders locally and across the organization to drive the BMS pipeline and to set and implement the local bioinformatics strategy
  • Collaborate with external research groups to access methods and datasets that enable high-priority projects
  • Communicate effectively to build support for work and align with organization


Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, molecular biology, genetics, or a similar discipline.
  • 10+ years relevant experience in academia or industry
  • Previous management experience required
  • Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong strategic and technical leadership skills
  • Solid understanding of Oncology and Immuno-Oncology
  • Familiarity with analyzing clinical trial datasets
  • Extensive experience analyzing and interpreting NGS data
  • Fluency with Linux based high performance and cloud computing environments, R/Bioconductor, and reproducible research practices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to converse with computational scientists, experimentalists, and clinicians
