Position Summary

The Commercial IT Lead oversees all information technology (IT) and digital capabilities for Ipsen North America in the context of Ipsen's global IT strategy. As a senior leader, reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Operations, the scope of this role includes the budgeting and administration of all mission-critical IT systems and operating standards that are required to support an innovative technology-driven culture at Ipsen.

This role unites accountability for the strategic and operational excellence of Ipsen's end-to-end technology systems, with a focus on enabling the commercial business. Extensive experience managing interdependent technology products and vendors is a must. The Commercial IT Lead will be a thought leader at Ipsen North America and will be accountable for the administration and integrity of all IT, digital, and data-related applications and technology solutions for North America. Our goal is to be best in class and we will be looking to you to help shape our Global Center of Excellence for IT.

Essential Functions


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional executives to design and oversee Ipsen's near-term and long-term IT and digital strategy to ensure the right technologies are in place to meet and exceed Ipsen's commercial objectives
  • Establish Ipsen North America as a de facto global IT leader by leveraging best practices to shape Ipsen's Global Center of Excellence for life sciences IT
  • Provide leadership and management to a team of IT professionals by ensuring workload balance, providing guidance and direction, and by offering opportunities for development and growth.
  • Manage the IT budget and staffing / resourcing plan to oversee all general administration (legal, HR, finance) software platforms and digital capabilities including customer relationship management (CRM), content management solutions, field-facing technology, and digital collaboration tools
  • Evaluate new innovative technologies and oversee the selection, integration, and maintenance of new IT products and services through strategic partnerships
  • Prioritize and manage a portfolio of IT projects including Ipsen-wide rollouts of new technology products and services with a focus on user experience for headquarters (HQ), our salesforce, and our customers
  • Establish and enforce service-level agreements for key technology vendors providing IT products and services to Ipsen and oversee IT vendor management
  • Support the operation and administration of technical standards (IP, domain, deploy code, etc.) of the Ipsen website and digital customer interaction function in collaboration with external vendors
  • Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and their applicability to IT systems in the life sciences industry to ensure that Ipsen complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree in computer science or related field preferred

  • 15+ years of pharmaceuticals and life sciences experience preferred
  • 12+ years building and managing enterprise-grade information technology infrastructure preferred
  • 10+ years of direct team leadership experience preferred, with the influence to manage a cross-functional team of individuals with diverse skill sets and backgrounds

Core Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)

  • Experience in working within a global, matrixed organization, demonstrated ability to influence multiple stakeholder at different levels of the organization
  • Broad and deep understanding of IT and digital strategy and requirement specification in commercial life sciences is a must
  • Advanced understanding of system-level IT processes with an eye towards interdependent technologies and vendors
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to hire and develop top talent in a high-performing and transparent organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively to non-technical business stakeholders and influence proper investment in and utilization of Ipsen's commercial IT ecosystem
  • Strong project management skills with proven track record of optimally managing resources and budgets to balance competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive IT innovation across franchises
