Senior Scientific Researcher, Antibody Engineering


We are seeking a talented antibody engineer to join the drug discovery efforts at Genentech. The candidate will be responsible for engineering antibodies to enable structure determination of challenging targets. The Senior Scientific Researcher will be responsible for all aspects of antibody engineering and characterization, including antibody library design and construction, in vitro selection of conformation-specific antibodies using phage display, epitope binning, affinity determination, sequence analysis, and small-scale antibody fragment purification. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented researcher, driven to solve complex scientific problems, and able to work both independently at the bench and in a collaborative environment.

Who You Are

This position requires a M.S. degree with 5+ years or a Ph.D. with 3+ years of relevant experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. The candidate must have extensive hands-on experience with one or more display technologies including phage, yeast, mRNA, and/or ribosome display platforms. Significant experience in antibody engineering is required, including library design and construction, naive panning/selections, affinity measurement, and epitope binning by SPR or related methods. Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS), small-scale antibody fragment purification, and engineering antibodies against membrane proteins and other challenging antigens is a plus.
