NextCure is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of novel biological therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. We are engaged in a large-scale discovery effort to identify novel immune modulators utilizing our Functional, Integrated, NextCure Discovery in Immuno-Oncology (FIND-IOTM) Platform. We are seeking a Director to lead and coordinate key activities associated with discovery research. These activities include functional gene-library screening, leading to identification, selection, and validation of novel molecular drug targets, to generate and develop therapeutics against lead target molecules. Crucial to these activities are management of scientific teams and internal resources, along with identification, development and management of external collaborations to support drug development. The role of this position is ultimately to develop first-inclass, first-in-human biological therapeutics targeting FIND-IO discovered molecular pathways.

• Work closely with management and research teams to achieve objectives

• Planning, analysis and critical thinking in all aspects of Discovery research

• Develop screening methodologies for identification of molecules with novel immune function

• Analysis and interpretation of high throughput gene library screening results

• Design, implement, execute, analyze and interpret in vitro and in vivo studies

• Maximize efficiency with internal resources

• Identification and management of collaborative efforts with CROs, academic groups and partners

• Collate research from multiple scientists and projects for internal and external presentations

• Generate and test biological therapeutics targeting novel molecular pathways

• Interface the research and development groups to facilitate pipeline development and clinical trials

• Contribute to writing reports, research articles, patents, SOPs, INDs and/or grants as necessary

Requirements

• Additional training in molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics is highly preferred

• Comprehensive experience in novel molecular discovery projects

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate teams and internal resources to support several programs

• Experimental expertise with human and murine in vitro assays and in vivo experimental models
