This position is responsible for supporting the development, coordination and execution of training, communications, culture and change management activities for AbbVie's Regulatory Affairs, R&D QA, Pharmacovigilance & Patient Safety (RQS) and RQS Operations functions. The candidate will provides tactical and strategic direction that drives the cross-functional implementation of effective RQS wide global training programs to ensure that RQS personnel fulfill job responsibilities while following the AbbVie Ways We Work behaviors. Will lead the RQS cross-functional Training Community of Practice (CoP), be the primary point of contact with outsourced training vendor and oversee RQS training outsourcing budget. This role provides services to more than 1300 employees including 60 affiliate offices. The incumbent reports to the Senior Director, RQS Business Transformation.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Builds relationships with leadership and SMEs in RQS functions and other partners to understand their training and learning design strategies and ensure integrated solutions and best practices for effective adoption of operating model standards, drives development of operating efficiencies, and enhances continuous learning.
  • Leverages and manages a blend of internal, contractor and outsourced resources to scale appropriately in accordance with training demand and project timelines to ensure critical business needs are met.
  • Identified as the primary point of contact with training outsourcing vendor and escalate any issues with the training vendor or RQS training leadership.
  • Will oversee overall training outsourcing budget including prioritization of outsourced projects, forecasting (dollars and timelines) and contributions to annual planning cycle.
  • Responsible for training, change management and communication metrics; identifies measures that assess the effectiveness of training, change management and communication activities and illustrate the impact on the business. Proactively communicates these metrics, as appropriate.
  • May develop, integrate and leverage detailed communication plans across multiple audiences, through the development of stakeholder analysis, integration alignment, messages, timing, media and effectiveness tracking.
  • Leads and oversees most aspects of Training CoP, assigned communications and change management strategies and activities through the identification of current and unmet needs. This includes program design, alignment, coordination, implementation and evaluation for change management and related communications initiatives.
  • Effectively collaborates with leaders in RQS functions, AbbVie Public Affairs, R&D and other partners to understand their communications and change management activities and priorities to share knowledge, align on opportunities and positively influence RQS needs.
  • Ensure integrated communications solutions to ensure adoption of operating model standards, drives development of operating efficiencies, enhances continuous learning and change management.
  • Partners with Subject Matter Experts across the business to design and deliver communication for organization's needs while keeping in mind the overall RQS initiatives, cross-functional culture goals and strategic framework.

  • Bachelor's Degree in training, adult learning, communications, change management and/or related experience. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 8 + years of communications, adult learning, change management and/or related experience
  • Background in communications, change management, people management, training, and/or management consulting. 5 years in pharmaceutical, healthcare or regulated industry preferred
  • Solid business judgment capable of driving a diverse organization with a focused, pragmatic approach
  • Ability to forge relationships and influence people at all levels of the organization
  • Experience working with or in patient-centric organizations preferred
  • Demonstrated capability to foster high levels of trust and credibility in the organization and with external vendors
  • Keen understanding of how to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Able to proactively identify and implement effective solutions
  • International work experience desired
  • Proven, robust written and oral communications skills
  • Strong business acumen with ability to anticipate company, leadership and team needs
  • A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectation
