Tacere Therapeutics Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Benitec Biopharma, is currently seeking a highly motivated and dynamic candidate to fill a Scientist or Senior Research Associate position in the R&D group. Tacere is a rapidly growing biotech company located in the Britannia Point Eden Business Park in Hayward, CA with convenient access in the bay area as it is located just off of the San Mateo Bridge. Requirements will be for a PhD. A BS or MS level candidate will be considered if they have commensurate experience for the job activities.

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

Producing research grade lots of AAV (Using triple transfection, baculovirus- or HSV based processes)

In vitro and in vivo characterization of AAV vectors using biochemical and molecular approaches

Position will also support GLP/GMP manufacturing and managing related projects at third party external sites

Design, construction, and evaluation of new AAV vectors and capsids

 

Required skills and qualifications:

Must possess considerable hands-on experience in protein purification using AKTA (FPLC) system. The experience with AAV is a plus

Fundamental understanding of commonly used molecular methods and strong laboratory skills with a diverse range of product characterization methods relevant to biologics and gene therapy based products, including

          *cell culture

          *cell based assays 

          *protein or vector analysis by gel electrophoresis (protein and                           DNA), ELISA, Western blotting, quantitative PCR, Nucleic                               acid extraction and quantification

Proven ability to work independently in a hands-on laboratory setting

Self-motivated to learn and develop new techniques, multi-task, maintain accurate records, develop procedures, and comply with company’s policies

Comfortable with responsibilities in an entrepreneurial, fast–paced, start-up company environment

Excellent oral and written communication skills including expertise with computer software commonly used in biotech research and development

Strong team player who works closely and effectively with colleagues
