Position Description:
Manage production planning, capacity management and supply chain functions for the company.  Develop, manage and negotiate supply agreements. Maintain control and accuracy over all inventory, including transactions, procurement, planning, scheduling, cost, and inventory levels, and will ensure that customer orders are fulfilled on time. The position will report to the SVP, Operations. The successful candidate will join our growing Operations department, be a player-coach to develop, implement and lead the supply chain and purchasing areas. 


  • Develop and execute a sourcing strategy to meet the company’s business growth and sourcing requirements. Identify, develop and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Establish the purchasing function. Develop, implement and manage a fully integrated planning process that incorporates capacity planning, scheduling, inventory, material and associated cost elements.
  • Negotiate and establish supply agreements, and work with Legal on agreements. Drive cost and lead time reduction through existing supply chain or via alternate suppliers as needed. Over time, will work on European agreements. Identify where dual sourcing is needed.  Work with Operations, Legal and Finance related to supply agreements with key suppliers and contract manufacturers for the build out of the supply chain.
  • Maintain supply chain records compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute a sourcing strategy to meet the company’s business growth and sourcing requirements. Identify, develop and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Participate with Quality for on-site audits of key suppliers.
  • Work closely with Finance and Ops to develop and maintain COGS related to management of inventory levels.  
  • Establish and manage production scheduling activities by monitoring material inventories, tracking the progress of production and reviewing factors that affect schedules.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional business teams to develop the best economic strategy for production planning to support customer demand.
  • Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and process that support accurate inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control. This includes developing and managing KPIs for supply chain, scheduling, and delivery. May implement and manage, in conjunction with Accounting, an inventory control system that is capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and taking corrective action to guard against inconsistencies in the future.
  • Experience with import/export regulations as it relates to the multi-national supply chain.
  • Coordinate and work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and (over time) Sales to ensure on-time delivery by establishing and monitoring schedules to proactively identify and address any issues.
  • Coordinate with packaging facilities to ensure proper label inventory levels is maintained.
  • Distribution and Logistics -  set up, manage and monitor global distribution networks. Ensure required Import/Export documentation is available.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or other related areas.
  • Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
  • APICS certification desired.
  • 8 or more years of progressive experience in production planning and supply chain management, including management experience, as we build out the supply chain team over time.
  • Experience in a regulated industry highly desired such as medical device, is highly desired.
  • Proven track record of having implemented Supply Chain systems including purchasing, MRP, ERP, etc.
  • Experience working with R&D, or other staff to qualify and manage contract manufacturers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies and other best practices and technology trends.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret large amounts of data is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment is required.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to understand details of data and to summarize concisely to present, share and influence at all levels of the organization required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
  • Comfortable working in a small company, roll-up-your-sleeves environment.
  • Some travel may be required (<10%)
