The Business Operations Specialist II role is an Associate Manager level role that will report directly to the Head of R&D Operations and be a member of the R&D Strategy and Planning (RDSP) Integrated Business Operations Team. The role will provide analytical and project management support for Discovery and Translational Medicine business operations to ensure effective planning and execution of our pipeline and business priorities. The incumbent will work closely with Discovery and Translational Medicine leaders as well as the RDSP Business Operations Leads; and gain significant domain experience in these critical R&D divisional areas.


The successful candidate will help enable R&D business operational planning and execution by:
  • Partnering with RDSP divisional Business Operations Lead to deliver operational support for key R&D business initiatives and projects
  • Partnering with R&D divisional leadership teams on resourcing projects and initiatives, tracking resource demand and recommending differential resource allocation where necessary
  • Partnering with HR and Finance on headcount planning to meet strategic objectives
  • Partnering with Finance to manage and track budget expenses; as well as identify, investigate, and solve operational issues to address financial concerns
  • Partnering with the R&D BI&A Reporting and Capabilities teams to develop key strategic reports, analyze data for insights on key performance indicators, and recommend performance improvements
  • Partnering with the R&D Transformation Team to identify and execute functional continuous improvement initiatives
  • Creating and maintaining SharePoint and other collaboration sites for project oversight and document sharing

Required Experience and Skills:
  • BA/BS degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of biopharmaceutical (or related) industry experience, and understanding of drug/clinical development process
  • Some project management experience with the ability to develop clear action plans and drive execution
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to navigate organization efficiently to identify stakeholders, resources, and support necessary to get work done
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Budget management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
