ProteinSimple seeks a Field Applications Manager with strong leadership skills and expertise in protein analysis techniques to drive adoption of ProteinSimple products into new and existing markets.

  • Supervise a team of Field Applications Scientists and oversee pre and post sales activities
  • Travel with Field Applications Scientists as necessary to evaluate and enhance skills and performance and also to understand customer needs/issues
  • Train Field Applications Scientists (FASs) on existing or new products, document procedures and develop training material
  • Hire and manage a team effectively, insuring the right people and resources are being utilized
  • Diagnose and resolve or escalate applications issues accordingly. Work with technical support, marketing, field staff and R&D to ensure applications issues are tracked and resolved and appropriate communication is provided to customers
  • Act as a liaison between customers and FAS staff if/when necessary
  • Collaborate with field scientists and customers to document new applications generated in the field
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide performance feedback on a regular basis. Take actions as appropriate. Complete annual performance reviews
  • Monitor FAS activity and set priorities for the team

Workplace Requirements:

  • Previous hands-on experience with general protein separation techniques, immunoassay development, and/or protein characterization methods on new instrumentation
  • Strong understanding of various protein analysis techniques including western blots, ELISAs, capillary electrophoresis, isoelectric focusing, HPLC and particle characterization
  • Demonstrated track record of mentoring others and managing to success
  • Collaborative leadership style that removes obstacles and promotes teamwork
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building both internal and external relationships
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Self-starter, hands-on, goal oriented strategic thinker with a bias for actions
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple work streams concurrently
  • Proven customer-oriented skills with intense focus on customer satisfaction
  • 7+ years in a life science field
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role
  • 3+ years providing customer support
  • Prior experience with improving support processes
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites including up to 50% overnight stays, co-travels with team members as well as attend corporate and regional meetings

Education Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related life science field required
  • MS/PhD preferred
