Position Summary

Summary
We are seeking a motivated research associate to join the Ophthalmology group and conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments pertaining to inflammatory and genetic ophthalmic diseases to support Regeneron Discovery and Development programs. This position will be responsible for the execution of experiments that support investigations into disease pathways supporting experimental therapeutics. Ideal candidates should have lab experience in molecular biology, as well as animal handling. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be hardworking, flexible, innovative and able to function effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and perform a range of in vitro cellular function assays and molecular biology experiments using ocular tissues and immunological cells.

• Prepare cell lines and tissues for sterile cell culture, characterization, functional, molecular, and flow cytometry assays.

• In vivo mouse handling and basic procedures. Apply or learn mouse drug delivery and ocular procedures.

• Utilizes both literature review and troubleshooting to identify solutions for protocol improvements and new experimental approaches.

• Perform data analyses, maintain accurate and complete records, prepare study reports, and present findings.

Requirements

• BS with at least 3 years or MS with at least 1 years of ophthalmology, immunology, cellular biology, or molecular biology laboratory experience after obtaining degree.

• Strong experience with molecular biology techniques: DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, genetic manipulation of cells (plasmid transfection, CRISPR editing).

• Animal handling experience: including various drug delivery methods and characterization of disease models.

• Excellent skill set for a variety of in vitro and ex vivo cell-based assays, including planning, execution, and analysis of: multiplex cytokine quantification (Luminex or MSD), proliferation assays, protein detection (ELISA, western blotting).

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Troubleshooting, statistical concepts, and practical data analysis skills.

• Demonstrated ability to learn new knowledge and techniques to fit with fast-paced research environment.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues to support team-based projects.

Preferred experience and skills:

• Experience with immunohistochemistry (protein or RNAscope) including histology preparation, immunofluorescent staining, and microscopy.

• Experience with ocular models of disease.

• Immunology experience with a solid background in innate and adaptive immunology.

• Basic knowledge of multi-color flow cytometry.

• Good organization skills, excellent attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, perform as a team player.

• Use of software for data analysis (Prism, Photoshop, FlowJo, MacVector, UCSC genome browser).
